5 out of 5 stars Love It!   September 7, 2010
Robfo
I have had this pedometer for 3 weeks and it works great. I have had many cheap pedometers before and they always start to count less and less steps which is very frustrating. This one also allows you to leave it in your pocket so the world does not realize that you are step counting dork. Plus, at midnight, it resets back to zero, so the next morning you don't even have to remember to do that (you can still see what you have done on previous days). The only thing that you might want to know before buying is that it will only add steps if you are walking for more than four seconds. Those first seconds are still counted, but only after you have been walking for five seconds (I think this is to eliminate false counts), but as my five stars shows, I have not noticed a problem with that. In fact, I love to shock my friends by violently shaking it and showing them that no steps were added.

3 out of 5 stars Nothing crazy...   September 5, 2010

Good standard pedometer. I've never had one before but this one definitely gets the job done. Good product.

3 out of 5 stars Starting each walk from Zero Omron pocket pedometerHJ-112   September 4, 2010

Bought this from Amazon
If I take 4 walks per day and wish to know the total for each walk, how do I set the distance back to zero at the beginning of each walk w/0 doing a complete reset?
If I understand the note at top of page 19' it resets the display to 0 at 12:00 am automatically which is not what I want. I want to be able to see each walk distance.

4 out of 5 stars Reset Button Removed   September 3, 2010

Although they haven't changed the model number it appears the device currently shipping no longer has a reset button on the front. That button would reset the device to zero for today, like if you wanted to measure a particular hike.

If you look at the product picture that Amazon has, that is a correct representation. However, if you look at the user pictures, or google for a manual you see that previously the product had four buttons on the front, one of which was that reset button.

I'm guessing some people were pressing that button by mistake and losing part of their day's activities so Omron decided to remove it. That's fine, except now if you want to reset the display to zero you have to stick a pin in the reset hole on the back, and then enter all your data again...time, stride length, weight.

Does this matter. To me it's a pain in the neck, but to most of the people who use the device it may be just fine since what they really want is to measure their total activity for each day, not a particular walk.

(Of course for a single walk, you just look at the display before you leave and subtract that reading when you are done.)

Seems like Omron could have designed a different reset button that was harder to press by accident instead of eliminating it entirely.

Whatever, it's not a huge deal, I just thought people should be aware of this.

Aside from that the device seems fine, and that is covered by lots of other reviews, so I won't repeat them. I just gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of my own needs. I also think they should have changed the model number when they removed that button.

4 out of 5 stars nice, but doesn't count aerobic steps well   September 2, 2010

I purchased this pedometer in July! It's really easy to use and very lightweight. I like it a lot, but have noted it will fall off your belt if you don't make sure it's on there very tightly. Also, it doesn't count all your aerobic steps, yesterday it didn't count them for the first 3000 steps. But I still like it!
